Wood Wicks
Wood wicks need to be trimmed each time you relight your candle or after ~3 hours of burning. If you find your candle will not stay lit or is burning low, trimming the wick will expose fresh wood and restore the flame.

Cotton Wicks
Trim the wick to 1/4" before each use. Remove any carbon balls from the wick tip to ensure a clean burn and a debris-free melt pool.

Burn your candle until a full melt pool is reached. This can take up to 3-4 hours, and is especially important the first time you burn your candle. A good rule of thumb is ~1 hour per 1" diameter. Some wax hang-up on the sides is normal — it will melt in on its own as the candle burns down.

Stop burning when you have 1/4" of wax left. If you can see the metal wick clip, you've gone too far. Burning past that point can overheat the vessel and damage the surface underneath. Always burn on a heat-proof surface.

It's easiest to light a wood wick from the corner rather than the top-center. We find the corner catches fire fastest. It's not necessary to light both edges.
